Privacy Policy

Who we are

Apex Trader Assistant is operated by the site owner ("we", "us"). For privacy questions email the address listed at the bottom of this page.

What we collect

If you use the app without an account, we don't collect personal data — your trades, notes, watchlists, and settings live entirely in your browser's localStorage. Clearing browser data deletes all of it. We have no copy.

If you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address (required for sign-in and password reset)
  • A bcrypt hash of your password — never the plaintext
  • Stripe customer ID + subscription state if you subscribe (we don't see card numbers)
  • A "cloud snapshot" of your trading data (trades, journal notes, watchlists, alerts) so it survives browser wipes and syncs across devices. This is stored encrypted at rest by the operating system on a single server.
  • Server logs of API requests for 30 days for debugging and rate-limit enforcement

What we don't collect

  • We do not run third-party analytics, ad trackers, or behavioral fingerprinting
  • We do not sell, license, or share user data with third parties
  • We do not access your brokerage accounts unless you explicitly enable a broker integration in Settings (currently disabled by default)
  • We do not store credit card numbers — Stripe handles that

Market data

Stock prices, quotes, and chart data come from third-party providers (Polygon.io, Alpaca). Their privacy policies apply when you query their APIs through our app. We do not pass your identity to data providers — we send only the ticker you requested.

Your rights

  • Access: Settings → Account → "Download JSON" gives you everything we store about you
  • Deletion: Settings → Account → "Delete account" wipes your account, sessions, cloud snapshot, and Stripe customer link, immediately and permanently
  • Correction: Edit anything via the app UI (trade notes, journal entries, settings)
  • Portability: Exports are JSON, importable into any tool that handles JSON

Cookies

We set one cookie when you sign in: a session token (HttpOnly, Secure on HTTPS, SameSite=Lax, 30-day expiry). It cannot be read by JavaScript. It contains no personal data — only an opaque token that we look up in our database. We do not set any other cookies.

Disclaimers

Apex Trader Assistant is a process and journaling tool, not a signal service. Trading involves substantial risk of loss. Pattern detections are not predictions. Past performance does not indicate future results. Nothing in the app constitutes financial advice.

Changes

Material changes are reflected in the "Last updated" date and announced in the app's onboarding modal. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
